About me
Amy R. Wong, is an Associate Professor of English at Dominican University of California. Her first book, Refiguring Speech: Late Victorian Fictions of Empire and the Poetics of Talk (Stanford UP, 2023), examines scenes of “failed” speech in late Victorian fictions of empire that disrupt colonial logics of ownership and “self-possession.” She is currently at work on two new book projects: On Being Quiet: Resisting the Talking Cure in Asian America (under contract with Bloomsbury), which examines binds on speaking in political as well as therapeutic realms for the contemporary Asian American subject, and a project on comparative realisms across the Victorian novel and contemporary Chinese film.
