About me
Galia Benziman is Associate Professor of English at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and specialises in British literature of the long nineteenth century. Her research has focused on the work of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy, the history of childhood, and the elegy. She has published two books: Narratives of Child Neglect in Romantic and Victorian Culture, and Thomas Hardy's Elegiac Prose and Poetry: Codes of Bereavement. Her essays appeared in Studies in the Novel, SEL: Studies in English Literature 1500-1900, Dickens Studies Annual, Dickens Quarterly, Partial Answers: Journal of Literature and the History of Ideas, The Oxford Handbook of Charles Dickens, and other platforms. Galia’s current research explores the links between “things,” modes of object-attachment, and realism in Victorian fiction.
